COURSE OVERVIEW

The course will focus on Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) and Classical Arabic. Modern Standard Arabic is the standardized and literary variety of Arabic used in writing and in most formal speech across the Middle East, North Africa, and Horn of Africa. The Classical Arabic is used in Quran and other Islamic religious scriptures.

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN

  • Ability to read and understand the Arabic text without tashkeel
  • Ability to write short paragraphs in Arabic
  • Comprehend the basic message of the Quran while listening to it
  • Converse briefly in Arabic

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

Sisters who wish to further their studies in the field of Sacred Sciences.

This course is best suited for you,
  • If you want to travel to Yemen, Jordan, Turkey, etc for advanced studies and want to have a good command of the Arabic language before traveling. OR
  • If you are a committed student and want to learn the Arabic Language besides your work or study schedule. OR
  • It has been a long time since you have studied Arabic and want to brush up your skills. OR
  • You have graduated from an Islamic Institute but still don't feel confident in Arabic. Please note that this is not to undermine the efforts of other institutes that are serving deen, our intention is to just fill in the gap, if there was any.

PREREQUISITES

Have the ability to read the QURAN with basic tajweed rules

COURSE DURATION

Beginning from August 12, 2017 - May 5th, 2018, InshaAllah.

COURSE DETAILS


The Arabic language is composed of many sciences; however, the course will focus on two essential sciences as follows:

Nahw: (Arabic Grammar), is taught by using Lisan ul Quran Part 1. Two hours are dedicated every week for Nahw. Students are expected to thoroughly read the chapter and try to answer the exercises before attending the session.

Sarf: (Morphology), is taught by using The Arabic Forensics workbook. Two hours are dedicated every week for Sarf on Saturday morning from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM EST. Students are expected to review everything covered during the session.
 
Course materials will be emailed to the students after registration.


Please note that we will try our best to make sure that the students are practicing the concepts well enough during the sessions with the instructor in order to avoid giving homework, however it will require high degrees of punctuality and focus during sessions.

In total, there will be 4 hours of live sessions every week that all students are required to attend. Nonetheless, students will have access to the recordings of all sessions.

There will be a test at the end of each term.

INSTRUCTORS

Ustadha Nadia Salma was born in Hyderabad, Pakistan. After completing high school, she joined Jaamia Ayesha Siddiqua in Karachi in 1996. She spent six years in studying both conversational and literary Arabic and other Islamic sciences from the classical texts of Tafseer, Aqeedah, Tajweed, Hadith, Fiqh, Seerah, and Islamic history. After graduating in 2002 she started teaching Tafseer, Usul ut-Tafseer, Fiqh, conversational Arabic (Al-Hiwar), Arabic grammar, poetry, literature, and calligraphy at the same institute. She moved to the US in 2010 and co-founded the "Nakhlah Institute" for higher Islamic education. Ustadha Nadia Salma currently resides in Sharon, MA with her husband and kids. 

Ustadha Ayesha Sultana spent her formative years at the Islamic School of Trenton NJ before deciding to dedicate herself to the memorization of the Quran. By the grace of Allah, she completed her memorization in 2011 at the age of fifteen. The following year she enrolled in Nakhlah Institute as a full-time student of the Islamic Sacred Sciences. At Nakhlah Institute, all the sacred sciences, including but not limited to, Arabic grammar, morphology, hiwār, hadith, Islamic jurisprudence, Aqeedah, and Quranic Exegesis (Tafseer) are taught using the original Arabic classical texts/sources to ensure their proper understanding. At Nakhlah, students study under the guidance of respected scholars and teachers possessing an unbroken chain of transmission which connects them to the early generations of Muslim scholars and ultimately to the Prophet Mohammad, peace and blessings be upon him. Ustadha Ayesha Sultana currently resides in Hamilton, NJ with her family and is actively involved in community service as well as pursuing a degree in Liberal Arts.

COURSE OVERVIEW

In this level, students will build upon concepts they have learned at level 1 along with new advanced concepts. A variety of exercises has been added to ensure that the students are able to master the concepts. 

OUTCOME

Insha Allah students will better understand and connect themselves to the Quran and Hadith.
